Base2 Corporation is proud to announce the general release of Base2 AutoLine Version 6. The version 6 release of AutoLine has been rewritten to use Microsoft SQL (MSSQL) as its underlying database. While the internal workings are completely new, the user interface, the screens and the work flows, are essentially unchanged. ADVANTAGE: SPEED
This conversion was over two years in the making and testing. Why spend so much time and so many resources on this conversion? Speed. In our test environment, Base2 AutoLine Version 6 processed inbound transactions in about ½ the time that it took AutoLine version 5.55. At one beta site, a display that took 30 minutes to build with version 5 (Firm Orders by Date), was building in 15 seconds using AutoLine Version 6. Check that on your calculator, but that works out to be a 12,000% speed increase for that function. You may not have data files this big, and your own times may vary, but this is real data, in a real working environment.

ADVANTAGE: FILE HANDLING
Extremely large data files are now handled effortlessly in Base2 AutoLine. Do you require large currently active data files? AutoLine Version 6 is just what you need. This is not a replacement for a sensible archiving program, but it is very forgiving when archiving is neglected over a long period of time.

ADVANTAGE: SAFETY
MSSQL allows quick scheduled backups of your data files if you so choose (recommended!). MSSQL databases provide increased data integrity and vastly reduced data corruption. In our testing, we have had no data corruptions at all.

ADVANTAGE: ACCESS
MSSQL allows the user to access the data tables directly for customized reporting and data export. Base2 will continue to offer and support an increasing number of MRP/ERP interface programs, but for the more adventurous developer, general access to the data tables is now possible. A dictionary listing will be available to assist the developer. Consulting on custom reports will be available.

ADVANTAGE: INSTALLATION SUPPORT
Prior to your conversion, Base2 can preprocess a copy of your data files, and let you know of any hidden file problems (Base 2 will repair these in the conversion process), and give you a time estimate of how long the conversion will take on your system. Unlike the previous upgrades, this will be a true conversion, different files and different formats. The process is highly automated, but it will probably take hours. For larger installations, you will probably want a Base2 rep on site during the conversion. For the rest of our users, we will provide conversion documentation, and we can assist via Webex if necessary.

ADVANTAGE: PLATFORM
Base2 AutoLine Version 6 runs on either MSSQL Server 2000 through 2005 or MSSQL Express which allows up to five users, and 4 GB of data. MSSQL Express comes with a limited tool set, but there is no cost for the download and license. In either case, the user will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the MSSQL database.

If you are already running, Microsoft SQL server 2000/2003, AutoLine Version 6 will install directly into your installed software. The advantage of using MSSQL Server is that you will have access to the broader tool set for maintaining your data outside of AutoLine. AutoLine itself will run exactly the same on either platform.

CONVERSION COSTS:
This is a conversion, and not just a typical upgrade/update that would be covered by your annual maintenance and support contract. As such, we will charge a modest cost recovery fee for the new software, and any conversion services that you may elect. Please contact us for a quote.
